Wow – already the penultimate day of this snow monkey series. It’s been great getting such positive feedback from the community on these images, I’m glad you like them.

Today we’re going for another black and white one full of back lighting and negative space. The back light comes from the sun which was pretty harsh on the morning I was taking these images. It certainly was not the best conditions to be taking photos of these creatures…but you have to work with what you are given.

I masked out the background and filled with black before converting the image to black and white using a gradient mask, and that’s pretty much what you see as the end result here. Originally I had hoped to do a week long series of black and white images, but the masking is a difficult task and either extremely time consuming, or not very precise if done automated, so unfortunately this is the last of the black and white images…for now.
