After the Petra by night show people milled around quite a bit taking photos, and were then ushered away.

I often adhere to the Alpha/Omega deal of being the first in and last out, and that’s what happened here where we were the first people to enter Petra that evening, and the last to leave.

As we were leaving we of course stopped to take photos, which felt pretty stressful when you want to take a long exposure of a night scene and you have a few guys walking behind you putting all of the candles out.

I took a couple of exposures for this scene; one was just the general scene image, but another one exposed for the candles so that I could get them in the image without being completely blown out. Here’s a copy of the original exposure:
