This is the Al-Sharif Al-Hussein bin Ali Mosque in Aqaba, Jordan.
Unless you like the sea and diving there is little to do in Aqaba. I don’t like these things, so other than seeing the Red Sea and walking on the beach, I needed to find alternate sources of interest and amusement.
You could order a milkshake and a couple of ice-creams from the Mövenpick resort, only to have it arrive blending in one glass – that’s fun.
Or you could sit in a nice park attempting to discretely geocache while surrounded by strangers.
Should you prefer something more exciting you could even venture over to the 5th tallest free standing flag pole in the world, visible from Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and touchable from within Aqaba.
I did all of those things, because that’s how I roll.
