Okay, so this isn’t quite the hydrogen bomb that was dropped at Bikini Atoll during Operation Castle, but the sun glaring behind this castle and blowing out the scene during a long exposure certainly had that feel and made naming this image quite easy.
This is Bodiam Castle where we visited this weekend. After leaving the nearby Scotney Castle due to the rain, we drove down here and sat in the car for 10 minutes thinking there was little point being here and we should return the next day. Then the rain stopped, the sun came out a little and the clouds were moving pretty nicely so we decided to give it a go after all.
I worked my way around the castle taking a few shots from different angles, and this was the best of the bunch on this trip. The golden/red light from the setting sun looked pretty cool on the small LED screen on the back of the camera, but didn’t quite match up to it on the big screen. So I added a couple of filters and ended up with something a little more surreal looking than I would normally care for.
In other news I’m off to Argentina a week today, so I have a lot of things to do this weekend, and a lot of images to process so that I can continue to post one per day while away.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
