I visited the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu during my visit to Beijing, mostly because I didn’t have enough time to dedicate to the trip and this was one of the easier places to get to at an early hour of the morning.
I walked quite a few stations of the wall over a 3 hour period and admit that it was pretty tiring at times due to the heat, the uneven surface and the fact I was carrying quite a large bag – plus I did it all without any breakfast in me so that didn’t help too much.
Although walking between stations is pretty similar, and you could get bored of it very quickly, I do think I would like to see a little more of the wall at some stage in the future, but not one of the touristy parts. It’s a pretty amazing piece of architecture which I’m very pleased to have witnessed.
