I haven’t yet read Cloud Atlas, so I’m not too sure what the title refers to in the context of that book. However, when I saw this scene in Berlin I immediately thought it would be a fitting title for an image, alongside the other potential of ‘Cloud Continents’ – the atlas version obviously won, even if it may be less fitting.
The building is the Park Inn hotel, and I was immediately drawn to it while walking through Alexanderplatz because of a platform that was sticking out of the side, and a vivid image that came to mind of people jumping from it. I have recently watched the latest season of The Amazing Race and doing a base free fall from here was a task that the teams had to do in order to get their detour information…it was pretty cool to recognize it from the show though.
I didn’t do the jumping off, it looked a little closed while I was there. Perhaps next time though.
