Departure Time

And in the shadowless unclouded glare / Deep blue above us fades to whiteness where / A misty sea-line meets the wash of air.
—John Betjeman, Cornish Cliffs

St Pancras International station is usually pretty busy. I have visited there many times since it was redeveloped a few years ago, sometimes simply to travel, sometimes just to grab a bite to eat and other times because of the great public exhibits that they do such as the huge Lego Christmas Tree. However, you often find that the upper level, beside the longest champagne bar in the world, is pretty quiet. I was therefore able to grab this image on a Sunday without people in it, though there were around six Japanese guys queuing up behind me with cameras.

The quote at the start of this post is the inscription that can be seen at the foot of the statue.
