World Cup 2006 is here!

The time to phone in sick, send the wife off on a 4 week cruise and stick the kids/pets into a local pound has arrived once again!

Can anyone beat Brazil?

Will Rooney be playing hopscotch in his backyard?

Just which round will England go out on penalties this year?

In order to celebrate this wonderful event we are running a lovely predictions competition and have some fabulous (read: trashy) prizes up for grabs! Here's how it works.

Head on over to the predictions table and bet on which team you think will win the World Cup and then enter your scores for each match. Whoever has the most points at the end of the World Cup is the winner. In case of a tie I'll look into who got the most right predictions (or who I like the most) before awarding a prize.

Scoring
Predict the overall winners: Choose the team you think will win the event. This option is disabled as soon as the World Cup starts, so you have to make sure to pick them before it starts on 9th June. If this team goes on to win you'll get 40 points!

Correct Prediction. If you correctly predict the exact score in a game you'll receive 6 points,
Correct Margin. If you predict the correct goal margin in a game you'll receive 3 points (if you predict 3-1 and the result is 4-2, this would be the correct margin).
Correct Outcome. If you predict the winner then you will get 1 points (so if you say Germany win their first match 4-0 and they win 1-0, you still get points).

Note: All game predictions must be made before the time specified - as the option is disabled as soon as a match starts!

Whoever the overall leaderboad top three at the end of it will win the prizes below.
