I’ve just returned from a trip to Helsinki. It was hot, with nothing but blue sky and harsh light throughout. The days are also really long there, so the sun only started to go down at around 11pm and it never really went dark.
On one of the days during my trip I took a ferry to Suomenlinna island and wandered around there for ages. I found this little shoe on one of the beaches with no sign of the owner or the other shoe in the pair.
It’s often quite a sad scene when you find items such as this lying around; though I’m sure there would be no sad story to it. I’m reminded of of the six word story by Hemingway: “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
