I have images from quite a few trips this year which remain unprocessed, and therefore unposted. I find that I’m happy processing images from my last outing, and then before you know it the trips you have taken are simply forgotten about.
This image was from my trip to Slovakia that I took earlier this year. This trip seems so long ago now, I was having trouble remembering if it was indeed this year or last that I went on it. I had to check the EXIF information just to be sure of when it was, and it turns out that it was just 4 months ago. It’s a distant memory to me now.
Then that’s the beauty of photography. I can simply look through the images taken and be whisked back there again. As I processed this image I remember where I was on the mountain trail that we were hiking. I remember having stopped about 10 minutes before this to take some long exposures of water; I remember a heart made out of rocks that someone had left on a boulder in the river; I remember a fungus attached to a tree that I took a few images of; and I remember taking this photo because I liked the way the trail was in front of me and you could only see the little stretch ahead of you without anything else, but also because it gave me a chance to stand still for a few moments and catch my breath.
Not long before my next trip now, and the creation of more memories.
