This isn’t really a toy train in the shot – it’s a regular old train that’s coming out of Victoria Station in London…just from really high up.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking a helicopter ride over London with the_defiance and thefella. After looking at this beautiful city for some time from rooftops it was about time I headed a little higher up.
The trip was over way too quickly, and the journey to and from London seemed to take an age, whereas the trip down the path of the Thames seemed to last only seconds. Starting in Chelsea, Battersea Power Station was closely followed by the Shard, which was followed by the Gherkin, which seemed way too close to the O2 Arena and in the blink of an eye it was over.
Part of me wanted to just sit and enjoy the experience of flying 1000 feet in the air in this wonderful but frail contraption. The other part of me wanted to just shoot anything and everything and, as we weren’t hovering in one spot, hope for the best on something actually coming out of it that I could use. The photography side won and I spent most of the trip with my eye to the viewfinder, and feel I likely lost out on a bit of the enjoyment and scenes due to this.
It was a lovely experience though, and I’m very happy to have done it.
